FISHING @ LAC PERDU
Lac Perdu is the biggest lake in our exclusive territory. The depth in the northern section of the 16-mile-long lake is 250 feet, and there are tons of islands, 2 of which are over a mile long. The camp is self-contained in the middle of the lake on a point that gives you a great summer breeze so that you don’t have a bug problem. 2 rivers coming in and 2 going out are all loaded with trophy brook trout. This privately owned lake with 88 miles of shoreline with 4 rivers.
The water is clean and cold, so our fish are aggressive throughout the season. You’ll share 150 square miles of unexplored wilderness with our moose, caribou & bear.
The Northern Pike in the lake range from 5 to 45 lbs +. They are generally found feeding in the shallows, but the really big ones go deep to hunt in the cooler water. Over 60 inchers have been caught. Our Brook trout weigh up to 10 lbs. They inhabit the 4 rivers at Lac Perdu. Since they live without predation, they are both plentiful and reckless.

Lac Perdu is a fantastic escape from the crazy lives we live today. To switch off and unplug!
With 88 miles of shoreline, you can find your perfect escape for the day on the beautiful sandy beaches or out on the water in one of our paddle boats. Or relax in the Hot tub.
Brook Trout:
Our Brookies weigh up to 10 lbs. They inhabit the 4 rivers at Perdu. Since they live without predication, they are both plentiful and reckless.
Experience fly fishing in the most spectacular setting.
Lake Trout:
Lac Perdu has excellent Lake trout fishing, with an average weight of 4 to 6 pounds. They will be in shallow water in May (shallow for lake trout is about 10 to 40 feet deep), then move deeper through June and into the summer. During the summer, you will probably catch the lake trout in 40 to 100 feet of water, so be prepared to fish deep. Trolling is the most popular method for catching lake trout, but jigging, drifting, and still fishing are also very productive. Many first-time visitors to Lac Perdu Lodge may shy away from lake trout fishing because it is different from the fishing they may be accustomed to. Still, you should know that lake trout are the biggest fish in the lake, and the thrill of catching your first laker can be addicting!
What Should I Bring for Lake Trout Fishing?
Large, heavy silver/chrome jigging spoons, such as Krocodiles (1-1/2 oz. or more).
Silver/blue deep diving plugs.
You can troll with lighter lures by adding trolling weights to a 3-way swivel several feet ahead of the lure (use 2 oz. to 5 oz. weights, like banana sinkers or keel sinkers).
What About Rods and Reels for Lake Trout Fishing?
A medium-heavy baitcasting rod will do fine.
A larger capacity reel spooled with steel wire or a non-stretch line is recommended. The minimum size would be similar to an Ambassadeur 6500 series reel, and reels slightly bigger will work even better. If you have line counter reels, bring them.
If all you have is a medium or medium-heavy spinning rod, bring that and some 2 to 5 oz. weights so you don’t have to troll with so much line out – it’ll work fine!
Northern Pike Fishing:
The Northern Pike in the lake range from 5 to 45 lbs +. They are generally found feeding in the shallows, but the really big ones go deep to hunt in the cooler water. Over 60 inchers have been caught at Lac Perdu.
Fish the shallow bays early in the season and the main lake rocky shores later in the summer and fall.
What Should I Bring for Pike Fishing?
All gear must be barbless and sharp.
Large red/white and yellow/red spoons, such as Dardevles 3″ or longer.
Large spinner baits work well – tandems for shallows, heavy singles for deep stuff.
Large jointed minnow lures such as #13 Rapalas in “Clown” or “Firetiger”.
Plastic-skirted jigs with plastic trailers are good for probing drop-offs.
Chartreuse and other bright colours are favourites.
What About Rods and Reels for Pike Fishing?
Medium to medium-heavy spinning and bait casting gear works well.
Be prepared when the bigger ones hit! They have been known to jump and slash at lures right next to the boat – don’t plan on taking a snooze, the pike will keep you wide awake!
